2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: *shrugs* it just seems a bitt over powered, so to say, as most classes do have armor restrictions.
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: and binding down to a dozen classes would be a brilliant idea. have the core classes and derive prestige classes from it or something and ehh *ponders8
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: Well, D&D and it's classes are copyrighted, so we'd be better off thinking off our own classes, not to mention stuff like prestige classes (which isn't even a general term, it's only used in D&D and thus specifically copyrighted to WotC)
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: And clerics can wear armor, because in D&D, they don't have any offensive spells (at least not on lower levels, and only very few and limited ones on higher level, often dependant on alignment) and they haven't got alot of choice of weaponry they can use. They don't have alot of skill points, and mediocre hit dice. Their healing abilities and heavy armor make up for that
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: We... are... so... screwed -_-' cause the dnd classes have the most obvious terms as classes.... this is going to be difficult dragon my dearest -_-
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: Not necessarilly. They can't blame us for using a term such as class - almost everybody does that. Nor can they blame us for using words such as 'fighter' which are so desperatly general one would have a hard time going around it. Still, it can be done. Seeing the D&D fighter class is basicly a class which could do anything besides magic, we could avoid it by narrowing our own classes down. It's not all that difficult. We don't have to stay by the D&D standards. We could make a warrior class, and make a player's access to feats class dependant. That way, a Warrior could choose, say, a Rage feat. That would make him similar to a D&D barbarian, without actually making him a D&D barbarian
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: As a matter of fact, one doesn't even need classes at all. Think about it - what is (to stay in D&D terms) the difference between a commoner and an adventurer? When does a commoner become an adventurer? As soon as the commoner has learned a few special abilites. From that perspective, we could introduce a system which doesn't work with classes at all, but with everybody being the same base character, only with differences in skills they've chosen and abilities granted at the beginning, much like morrowind and oblvion, without all the statistics.
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: but they can blame us for using names for classes such as warrior, ranger, cleric etc -_-
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: *ponders on the whole thing*
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: well then they can go ahead and sue every other RP game out there
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: They do -_-'
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh and Writersco won't accept my stories cause it's fanfiction O.o' It felt like getting shot
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: We could just make it all general though. There's a Tank class, with according freedom in fighting styles. A mage class, with according freedom in magic usage. A Sneak class, with according freedom in stealth abilities. And a Healer class, with according freedom in divine magic and ways of combat. This 'freedom' excists out of a selection of skills, of which they can choose several as they level up, and these skills are prescribed by us. If a player desperatly wants something special, theyt can message us, and we'll see if we'll make whatever he/she wants is acceptable for the wiki.
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: We should start our own RP company :p we might own WotC with our system ;)
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: We just might. But if this really sounds like a good idea, I'll be happy to work it out.
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: well i have to admitt we could use a bitt of uniformication
2006-06-09 [Indelible]: hey if you have any suggestions for my character that would be great anyways.. and i can change certain aspects of my character to fit with WFF aswell where does it tell ues our guidelines... since this is my first character that i have made here i would like any help in so that i have a basis for future characters that i will make...
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: Actually I kinda like your char, especially if you roleplay him as he is - lazy, blunt, but kind. You could deepen his history a bit, by explaining further why he became so religious. Perhaps, when he was wounded, he began praying to his god hoping he'd survive. When he did survive, he decided he was so grateful he'd bcome a cleric. It's basicly what you've already said, but the whole prayer thing might make things clearer, and more logical then the sudden appearance of a spellbook. However, if you wish there's some small miracle concerning a spellbook, I won't stop you. Things like that tend to happen in a world where there are alot of active Gods :P
2006-06-09 [Blood Raven]: Besides that, I suggest looking over what you've written after you finish and try correcting the grammar a bit. It's slightly chaotic to read sometimes, as it is now.
2006-06-09 [Indelible]: lol i'll re read all my stuff.. i just type really fast cuz i'm always so pressed for time... i will deapen his history when i get a chance... and how would you suggest that i play him?
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: Just play him the way you have imagined him here :)
2006-06-09 [Indelible]: Sounds kool... any suggestions for a god?
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: *mumbles something about her only having the divine book of DnD*
2006-06-09 [Indelible]: oh i see... uum i have 5 of my D&d books but i dont like to rely on them all the time... i have Complete arcane, Players handbok 3.5, Races of Denstiny, Races of Stone, and a Monster manual V3.5
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: *nods* I have the Players and DM handbook, the Monster Manuals, complete arcane (somewhere), Book of Vile Darkness, Players guide to Fearun, Complete Guide to the Drow, Tome of Drow Lore, the Quintessential Barbarian and Drow, Sheoloth city of spiders, Menzo and Waterdeep rp books, Plot & Poison, The Drow War books, Warhammer Darkelves, Encyclopedia Arcanea: Magic of the Underdark. & The Arcane Drow. Vault of the Drow and The Drow of the Underdark and some others :)
2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: I am so hooked on Drow -_- My drow books outnumber my other DnD books
2006-06-10 [Blood Raven]: well, at least you play them the way they are, and not as some chaotic good offspring bound on removing the bad reputation of their race -_-;
2006-06-10 [Linn Scarlett]: There are so many good drow that it is original to play bad drow. Sides I like court intrigue! No better place to find that than in drow society, or better: drow noble courts :P
2006-06-11 [Blood Raven]: if you've got races of destiny, you'll notice you can actually find more intrigue in the Illumian race, who bend jsut about everybody to their will. But the drow noble courts have the nice bonus that whenever you totally run down you're opponent, you can torture him to death, and slay his family.
2006-06-11 [Linn Scarlett]: And best of all: Kill his puppy dog infront of his eyes >:)
2006-06-11 [Kim_Lundin]: ... They have puppy dogs in the Underdark?
2006-06-11 [NamelessMerc]: Puppy cerberuses, maybe.
2006-06-11 [Linn Scarlett]: Linnerial got a puppy hellhound after... *coughs* doing certain things with the local Beastlord? Meldor wouldn't let her keep him though (the puppy, not the beastlord -_-)
2006-06-11 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh... I just found out Meldor is the anti christ -_-' His names are all made of six letters: Meldor Istora Idrill => 6 6 6. Now I need only a catchy anagram -_-
2006-06-12 [Kim_Lundin]: Well... my birthday's the 6th of june... ^_^
2006-06-12 [Linn Scarlett]: evil you!
2006-06-12 [Kim_Lundin]: Hmm... yes? >:)
2006-06-12 [Linn Scarlett]: *pats* down bad boy down!
2006-06-12 [K'jesrya]: so...what happend to all the secondary characters that people put up...
2006-06-12 [Linn Scarlett]: they get put in a jar and we sit on them until they are warm >:)
2006-06-12 [K'jesrya]: which means what exactly :)
2006-06-13 [xido]: lol! Crazy Linn! "Kim_Lundin: Well... if you're talking v.3.5 DnD, my books say that Clerics can wear all kinds of armor, then I'm sure that there may be house-rules stating otherwise. But even if the DnD rules had said Clerics can't wield all kinds of armor we have to remember that those rules aren't set in stone here on WFR, so they can very well be bent if a player wishes so." Kim knows best. On classes, we have to lose the term, and go for something more original and unique to WFR, like Roles, Professions, or Ranks (since it is the Rank Page). As for gods, no, there is no set gods, but the pantheons of D&D, ancient peoples and any that you can clearly define (yes it is important)
2006-06-13 [xido]: Every priest(ess) must know to which deit(y/ies) they pray. It is integral to being a cleric. I will allow the D&D use of all armors, but because all characters are unique to different locations, with different ideals and structures, not all 'classes/ranks
2006-06-13 [xido]: The WFR's list of Ranks/Roles/Cl
2006-06-13 [Linn Scarlett]: *nods slowly* i think i know what you mean Xido
2006-06-18 [xido]: ;) That's why I pay you so well, Linn. x.op
2006-06-19 [Linn Scarlett]: Talking about that, i want a raise ;)
2006-06-19 [Linn Scarlett]: Besides xido, we can always nag and whine about characters too unbalanced when they get uploaded here. Should there have been a little too much use of... imagination, so to say :P
2006-06-19 [NamelessMerc]: You mean like a 50,000 year old demon, with fire control, who is impervious to all known weaponry and just so happens to have a charming alter-ego he can shapeshift into? Damn, there goes my next idea -.-;
2006-06-19 [Indelible]: just one thing more... can we make undead characters?
2006-06-19 [Linn Scarlett]: If they aren't too smelly :p I don't like the smell of rotting flesh -_-'
2006-06-19 [NamelessMerc]: And that annoying "Meh want eat bebbeh" thing. Annoying.
2006-06-19 [Indelible]: lol I was thinking more of my Vampire cleric that I made for a DnD campain
2006-06-19 [NamelessMerc]: 0.0; I so want to make a zombie now... Undead Assassin in heavy armour. The world's worst sneak attacker.
2006-06-19 [Indelible]: lol...that would be funny to see...
2006-06-19 [Linn Scarlett]: A vampire cleric? that's a new one O.o' who did he/she worship/ Erychtuull(?)
2006-06-19 [Indelible]: It does happen! and she worships Doresain normally but it depends on the Quest
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: Hmm *nod nod* cool, what's her base race? ---what was she before she was a vampire
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: she was human:P
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: Ahh corny ;p
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: I just like to use humans for the bonus feats
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: Hmm you do have a point there :) I ran into a vampire orc one ---scary shit!
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: Clerics work well with most races aswell... so its good that i had option... but the advantages of being human made me a little happier:P i like playing clerics i think i'm gunna start making a bunch of different ones
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: I'm still hung up on monks... I blame Neverwinter Nights -.-; I just can't get enough of those Gloves of the Long Death.
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: I blame NWN for me liking drow so much. though it sucketh that you couldnt play em. And it sucketh even more that DND online you STILL cant play em
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Aye! Though a lot can be said for a human fighter. So versatile... So many frickin' feats! Though my dwarf kicks more ass.
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: I had a Elven bard-assasin-s
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: On NWN I had a Human Monk... I kicked ass
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Ouch, I'm currently playing NWN with a Dwarven Fighter with a -3 Charisma penalty. The reactions are just plain funny. As soon as he hits level 15 I'm moving him over to Hordes.
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: I completely loved the way npc's in Morrowind would react to running around clotheless
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Heh, I haven't done that for a while... "Sir! Please put some clothes on! You offend my lady friend!"
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: ack... what an ugly dwarf... fighters dont need charisma anyways:P
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: You should hear them when you have a female char. Especially those Njords on the island were funny :p I took their comments as compliments ^_^
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Exactly. He uses the blade to get around, not some finely-chisell
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: XD Never going to try that, thanks. I have my inner child to think about <.<; >.>;
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: lol i'll try that.. i just ned to get my game back froma friend...
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: *gigles* he uses his blade to get around *giggles some more*
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Aye, and a mighty blade it is too... *cough*insertw
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: *lifts eyebrow and smiles at you much the way a lion would smile at seeing a tasty deer* *cough*wittyen
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: yea it was fun when i had my monk... i killed the whole town...
2006-06-20 [Linn Scarlett]: *chuckles*
2006-06-20 [Indelible]: it wasn't that easy low lvl and all...
2006-06-20 [NamelessMerc]: Chaotic Monks... Gotta love 'em.
2006-06-21 [Blood Raven]: I still prefer fireballs to mass-murder towns...
2006-06-21 [NamelessMerc]: -.-; My sister has deleted my Hordes save. I'm going to bury her in sand, smear her in honey and then release ants over her head.
2006-06-21 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* hmmmm it works all the time "FIREBALL-FIRE
2006-06-21 [Blood Raven]: well, I haven't had a char who reached the implosion level yet, but yeah, implosion does account for -alot- of fun
2006-06-21 [Linn Scarlett]: My archmage can implode stuff. and Linnerial too, but that usually happens on accident ---she kinda tried to memorize Ilharn's implosion spell once...
2006-07-01 [xido]: "Linn Scarlett: Talking about that, i want a raise." About that... I will pay you four times as much as I pay you now, so I hope that will help keep you on top of your bills and such. x.xp As for the D&D and NWN talk, I am amazed at the level of familiarity we all have, since everyone currently commenting both plays D&D and plays NWN campaign(s)... We are a curious bunch. I love it. But wow, 3 comment pages worth... I had to back track to read through the conversation. :P Thanks for hanging around the page and helping out, guys.
2006-07-01 [xido]: [Indelible], if you could post just a tad more in the personality section, and state openly the cleric's deity in the character bio, I like it, and with those changes it will be appropriate for acceptance. Thanks, and best of luck in life and on ET and the WFR. Everyone please check out Wiki Fiction Roleplay, and know that soon we will be hosting applications for both Fantasy and Scifi/Modern/F
2006-07-07 [Linn Scarlett]: I imploded a whole damn drow city :D *proud* oh yeah, thanks xido *huggles* but again: I inploded a whole damn drow city in my book :D
2006-07-16 [Linn Scarlett]: Ok, there are only three small things I'd like to mention about this char :) I like the healing ability, but I have to ask my fellow geeks here reading the char's to approve them "isn't -any wound- a little bitt.. well.. too good?" It would include severed limbs, ripped out guts etc, if it is indeed 'any'. Also, I think communication/
2006-07-16 [NamelessMerc]: Any wounds would seem a little excessive, though as this character is d'n'd based, wouldn't the "animal's thoughts" fit with animal empathy?
2006-07-16 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* but animal empathy is feeling their *mood* not reading their *thoughts*. To have a thought you need a vocal language, a language in words. And to be able to understand the thoughts one must know that language. For dnd you can't heal 'any', for very severe you need a wish spell
2006-07-17 [VentruePrince]: If you look in the D&D book animal empathy is feat or is it skill one or the will have to call my DM. The htought is merely not as in oh hey there are ogres ahead, thoughts like hungry, fear, and so on basically feelings. Remember animals are not considered highly intellegent and what they percieve can be mis-interprete
2006-07-17 [VentruePrince]: to warn her chicks of uncoming danger. Its not a language persay, its connecting two skills into once really. Animal sound mimicry teamed with animal empathy. I will specifie the healing better
2006-07-17 [VentruePrince]: Ok all done, please let me know if he is good or not. Thank you
2006-07-17 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* looks good to me now *waits for the all mighty Xido's verdict*
2006-07-18 [VentruePrince]: Great!! Is he here yet?..........
2006-07-18 [Lexicon]: Holy......!! this has changed alot, very nice layout xido and all
2006-07-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Nope he seems not to be.
2006-07-19 [Nicolai Antredias]: I like the new layout and am even converting my character to this format
2006-07-19 [VentruePrince]: ahwell, here this weekend I am going out of town. I am just hoping that he gets in before then. That way I know wwhat I need to do to fix him if he doesn't approve
2006-07-19 [Linn Scarlett]: *shrugs* Xido is always running about, most of the time I just don't know exactly where he is running
2006-07-22 [xido]: And most of the time in his running about, he rarely checks this page himself except when he spidey-senses danger or knows of someone applying... He often prefers mods to help him out on this task while he tends to larger, more diverse projects.... thank the gods for mods. XP I will review Ventrue's character now.
2006-07-22 [xido]: I love the name, Mimric Crestblade. excellent. "He can heal many moderate and some heavy injuries and afflictions" Should be a sufficient change to smoothe that detail out, and aside from a quick spell-check on a word processor program, it looks good to me. Thanks for joining, Ventrue, and I think a round of applause is in order, for bringing Lex back to us. Welcome back, [Lexicon]. Thank you for the compliments. You should see what I have in store for the Lands of Qor pages... It seems Ventrue has already chosen Eskarda as his home as well.
2006-07-22 [xido]: By the way, for Mimric, is Bonded Touch a racial ability of the Moon Elf, or is that an acquired talent, like a feat? If it is racial, it might be better in that section, but if not, it is fine as is. Neat power. I like it, and its built-in limitation. Cool. And as for the mods, you don't need my final permission if the character is up to your standards, as long as they are in fact good enough in your opinion of a first character. Obviously D&D or tabletop players are going to have an advantage with character creation, but be rational, and accept as you see fit. You do not have to wait for my approval. I have faith in the Mods I choose to lead. x.o)
2006-07-22 [Linn Scarlett]: *grins widely* I'll try to make sure your faith is well put in us ;) Which reminds me, that I am gonna blow some new life into Evernight sometime soon, you wouldn't be wanting to join us in adventuring would you?
2006-07-26 [The Fuzzily Psychotic Llama is Dead]: I have put on a new thing on here, but where do you start playing?
2006-07-29 [NamelessMerc]: Amateur opinion: The bio you submitted is interesting, Llama, but I think you're referring to the flight in too many places. It all fits, but the power only really needs to be stated once or twice. I like the physical limitation (his hollow bones) though, very original.
2006-07-29 [The Fuzzily Psychotic Llama is Dead]: Yeah, sorry about that, but otherwise I would have to leave half of the stuff black and it would look a bit unfinished.
2006-11-06 [The Fuzzily Psychotic Llama is Dead]: Hey, [Kuehne] It says you ride your house in the skills part! lol
2006-11-07 [Kuehne]: well.. yeah.. is there something wrong with that? :)
2006-11-14 [xido]: Linn Scarlett: "I am gonna blow some new life into Evernight sometime soon, you wouldn't be wanting to join us in adventuring would you?"
I have to pass on that, Linn, as things are pretty crazy for me right now, but I will in and out to check on things indefinitely, so just let me know if you ever need help with things as all.
Also, I have always had faith in your reputation, Linn... ;) It is your drow characters' reputations I do not trust. :D x.xp
-will
PS - Riding houses is not allowed. The Building Code Enforcers would have our hides for that kind of buffoonery!
2006-11-15 [xido]: Also, I have invited all finalists of the Elftown RPG Contestants to apply with fully-written wiki pages, as though they were secondary character applications. If these wikis have any issues or concerns, comment directly on their page. If you cannot do so (because they do not allow comments or something), msg me with the person's name and character page.
Thanks!
2006-11-17 [Veltzeh]: If that bio format is going to be used for both sci-fi and fantasy RPG characters, I'm blaming it for being fantasy-biased
Also, why is it especially specified that after the appearance section there may be no images? "(*No* Artworks, imagery or media)" Can pictures go anywhere else then?
2006-11-17 [xido]: You are correct, it is fantasy biased.
Let me do a little work here: WSFR Application Page & WSFR Character Page
The template merely states that this character has no current artwork, not necessarily that artwork is not allowed. We encourage art and media of all forms for character creation and submission, but it will not substitute for an adequate character appearance description. That's all. I will do an edit on that.

But all others need to specify in a comment which page they'd like their character posted on, and if they do not already have one, we will make one that is titled as they see fit. REMEMBER TO CHANGE OWNERSHIP on page that you create for a player!
Ventrue's Characters for VentruePrince.
2006-11-18 [Veltzeh]: Ooh, it means "no pictures yet, add here when some pop up" and not "no pictures may go here". Damn mixed messages.
Also, any change I could be let to fix spelling here? XD
2006-11-19 [xido]: Right, I must be pretty good about writing things with double meanings and not catching it... I have been found out numerous times.
As for edits, I always welcome a peer review, but please copy-paste these spelling or grammar in bolded text within their current forms in the comments. I have passworded this page now that our applications will be in the limitless comment field. Unless you are asking to edit something in the comments of characters.... ??
2006-11-30 [Nebka]: Ok, Question time.
1: Exactly how many characters are we allowed per Universe/world
2:Would it be alright if I just gave a link to my character in the RPT contest? I did make it through the first round, don't know if that counts me as a finalist or not.
Um... I think that's it. I'll let you know if I have more.
2006-12-01 [Kim_Lundin]: Well, to answer question 1: As far as I know you're allowed to have as many characters as you can manage... at least I've never seen a maximum.
The second one I'm not sure about.
2006-12-04 [xido]: 1) There is no maximum. Once you're in, you're in, and can have as many secondary characters as Kim said, "you can manage."
2) Either the original character bio (as applied to the contest with), or the final contestants bio will be fine. Please post it as a comment link, and Kim, if you would accept these RPG-Contest applicants like this, they are fine in my opinion. I have reviewed many but not all of them. ;)
[Dr.Mandarian] has been invited by me to the Guild without an application, because of the working status and excellent layout of his wiki game, Madrumah. He will have this posted directly to the WFR Guild Members by me, in case you wonder what happens when I edit it. ;) Thanks, Kim, you rock the house. [Leara], [Linn Scarlett], and I think [Blood Raven] are all in a whirl with life at the moment, so you're the man here for now. I have revisions on other WFR pages in the works at the moment, and a final formatting will soon be in place (given ET stops changing wiki formatting soon enough...)
-will
2006-12-05 [Kim_Lundin]: Eheheh... Okay, I'll see what I can do.
2006-12-05 [Kim_Lundin]: Right, all those characters moved to the WFR Guild Members, I'll have to fix the bold/underline
2006-12-05 [Kim_Lundin]: Thank GOD for the previous version button... without that I would've had to write tags all night.
2006-12-05 [Veltzeh]: Hmm, yeah, that's one drawback with the comments. Only the maker of the comment can access all those tags and won't need to do them again.
2006-12-05 [Kim_Lundin]: Hmm... perhaps someone could poke some moderator and ask to get a "show tags" button for comments.
2006-12-05 [Veltzeh]: That sounds a bit too much to ask...
2006-12-06 [Kim_Lundin]: Yeah, perhaps. They've added enough goodies for the time being. But in the future, maybe.
2006-12-06 [Veltzeh]: I think that actually it would be better if the bios were on the wiki itself after all, so it would be easy to retrieve them, tags and all. Also, that "No Current Artworks, imagery or media" is still a bit weird... Couldn't it be "Pictures of the character may go here" or something?
2006-12-08 [Nebka]: Okay, here we go: Jake Berenson
Please forgive the spelling and grammar, I recently went over this and realized how horrible it was.
2006-12-09 [Kim_Lundin]: [Nebka], I've posted a comment on your character.
2006-12-10 [xido]: I have thought about that tag issue, but I am so happy with the layout of the page, that I wuld hate to mess it all up again and make it that horribly long page it was before....
I will think about how to deal with that (it may be as simple as having people post wiki links here, even though we did not originally allow that, because we wanted Guild Members to be able to comment on the bios.... Any further ideas? I will ask Hedda if it is possible to have a button like that for these, but that will also make all applications look like jumbles of code tags too.... Give-take-brea

2006-12-10 [xido]: Does that help at all? I think it will massively hurt new applicants' brains to know what all that is if they don't know the code (which is why I posted the tags to begin with....)
I appreciate all input.
2006-12-11 [NamelessMerc]: I see no reason why people applying can't have the wiki, if only for the fact that anyone who wishes to comment could do so on the peage itself. It might even make it easier, as all the comments on that character's bio would be in the same place, not amidst the rest of this pages comments.
Just my opinion, feel free to debate =)
2006-12-11 [Veltzeh]: Hmm, of course the bios could be on their separate wiki... one more page, but at least this layout would be kept here.
2006-12-11 [NamelessMerc]: Well it wouldn't really be another wiki, it'd be the one that was added to the Guild Members page when any changes were made to it, then all the comments and hints could be deleted or kept as the owner wished.
2006-12-11 [Veltzeh]: Yeah, I was talking about if someone wanted a general page for the applications. Of course it'd be "simpler" to just have a single wiki for a single character.
I suppose it'd be best if people just used single wikis and those who don't know how to make a wiki just asked for help.
2006-12-11 [NamelessMerc]: Aye, that was my thoughts on it.
But I havve no authority, so meh =p
2006-12-14 [Kim_Lundin]: In my opinion, allowing applicants to put the description into a wiki would be a good idea, it would make moving them to the accepted page easier and it would, as [NamelessMerc] said, make it easier with the comments.
2006-12-18 [xido]: I agree. Let's say this:
Everyone applies with a full bio on their own wiki page.
We'll list every character by name (page name) on WFR Guild Members, but we'll make a new line for each new page, so that the character lists don't begin looking like a jumble of info like they currently do. That was my intention with the Character List pages, but you are correct, it is an unnecessary step in the process, and creates too much work.
If there are no issues with this, I say we instate that method immed. [Leara] has become very busy with many other things, including ET Crew duties, so she will be given veteran status, and we will make a new Prime Mod crew. Kim, I will listen to your input if you know any takers on backing you up when it gets busy in here. I would mod this page, but I am trying to bring it all together once more in the next two weeks, while I am on break from classes. The Guild and a few of my pages will see a lot of changes and updates, and this can be the first on this one.
Does anyone have any ideas, opinions, comments or discussion on the example character or the template for character creation, esp. as it relates to all fiction genres now endorsed by the WFR?
(please tell me that question made sense... I am sleepy right now)
-will
2006-12-21 [Kim_Lundin]: Well, some help managing this would be appreciated, so any mod who feel up to the task is more than welcome. I would be especially happy if it's someone who knows which characters to accept, as that's what I feel is most troublesome for me.
2006-12-23 [xido]: That's fine, and I support any decision you make in this regard, and anyone you feel is both able to help and comfortable for you. I will do what I can when I can, and feel free to msg me when you are super busy. I often can find a minute or two to jump in and do a quick edit... ;P

2006-12-23 [Kim_Lundin]: *laughs* Poopy powerplayers are bad, okay, I think I can remember that. I'll be lazy or a while and wait for others to show interest, at least as long as things are calm.
2006-12-25 [xido]: Feel free to take the holidays easy and be lazy. I know how much you do on here, and there is no need to overdo yourself on your free time. Feel free to post as you wish, when you wish, how you wish. If you are ever inspired to do something, but not sure what, you know who to call.
I also feel completely free in allowing you to add content, pages, hints, tips, etc. to any Guild page, and of course I have been outlining the WFR Rules for too long without actually going in there and writing them out. It is not tough, just boring. I don't like lecturing people on how to write or roleplay unless they ask me (but oh, how I hate not having a wiki page to refer them to about the basics, and simply repeating myself or having to go search through archived rules, discussions, and ideas for the answer. :P Aside from finally finishing all WFR layouts (if the wiki features stop shifting on us), that is the final piece in the puzzle, to make the WFR Guild a fully functional, self-sustainin
Anyways, happy holidays! I'll stop rambling out loud about what my plans are...
Merry Christmas, Kim, and all WFR Guild Members, and a Happy End of 2006! We are almost there, everyone!

2006-12-25 [Kim_Lundin]: Merry christmas, xido :) Thank you for allowing me to be lazy, best christmas gift ever *laughs*.
2006-12-26 [I'm off elftown now!]: I'm confuzed... so where do I put my character's Bio?
2006-12-26 [Kim_Lundin]: You make a new wiki named after your character, put your bio on that page and then post a wikilink here in the comments.
2006-12-28 [xido]: Merry Christmas, and a Happy end to 2006 to you too, Kim.
To Koala Bear: Example (I am posting):
2006-12-27 [xido]: Gea (= [Gea@wiki])
2006-12-28 [NightHawk]: Happy Holidays to all! For you moderators, I have a special gift >.> That would be my application for the guild. Note that this character is also one of my two entries still in the finalists for the Wiki Fantasy Roleplay Contest currently being held... up. ^^

2007-03-08 [J. "dragonruler" Rouse]: So you'd like me to post it here? ...or was it that you wanted me to create a seperate wiki page?
2007-03-26 [xido]: A separate wikipage with the copied information would be just fine for our mods. ;)

2007-04-06 [Linn Scarlett]: *awaits the posting of the wiki*
2007-06-14 [Dark_Hotaru]: I want to Joing........b
2007-06-14 [xido]: Can you make a Character Bio Page? The template is helpful, but the necessary stats are posted above, too.
2007-06-16 [Kim_Lundin]: The simplest way to add a character, in my opinion, is to copy the template from above, paste it into some text editor, like Word or something similar, and add everything there. This is good for three reasons, it's simpler, you don't have to worry about elftown crashing on you (it's become rarer lately, but it still CAN happen) and, if you need it, a spell check is just a button away.
When all the information is added to the right place, simply make a new wiki and paste all of it into it, then add a link to that wiki on this page in the comments.
2007-06-21 [xido]: This is true. ;)
Also, for those of you interested in D&D / d20 characters:

2007-06-26 [Linn Scarlett]: Auch I am still here Xi, I've just been very busy with several important excavations lately. But I am around again -hopefully for some time, putting up a netwerk in the middle of no where sucks arse.
2007-10-28 [xido]: lol! Good to know. I am also still around, and would like to keep you all abreast of some updates.
First off, I am now an RPGA member and a card-carrying Game Moderator under the rules by Wizards of the Coast (http://www.wiz
Secondly, a few projects of mine are opening people's eyes to D&D content that I have created. A few of these ideas are potentially going to be published, including anything relating to Jashnia and the Inath concept I have created for D&D. That being said, I posted a page about the WFR on D&D wiki (which gets hits all day long from RPGers), and I have posted a comment about new non-Elftown members on the Wiki Fiction Roleplay portal page.
We will openly accept anyone with any creative talent, provided they prove themselves in a comment here. If they are truly dedicated, it would not be difficult for them to post a short description of one of their characters in the comments field that includes the same info we ask for from ET members. If they write a really good speech (well-written, good grammar, not too dramatic or egotistical), that may also work, depending on the experience they claim they have.
Anyone from any RPG system will be considered, and do not HAVE to be an RPGA member or a D&D player. Those people should simply be given an easier time with the application process. Since non-ET members cannot make their own wikipages here, they may post simply text in a comment. This info should be transferred onto a wikipage, along with a username or name that they would like posted along with it (instead of an ET username), and MUST give an email address or website address where they are an openly-viewabl
Anything else, just decide it, write it down (all rules need to be compiled and posted to the WFR rules page), and let me know that we have a new system element or rule.
Though I will continue to be involved in anything heavy here or which needs important decisions made, I am trying to step back in terms of leading every page in every way, and simply want the Guild to decide openly who should do what. Make committees or a poll, write a content wiki and decide whatever you would like. If need be, I will write up a lit of guidelines to follow sometime before Christmas or so.
Please welcome new commenters and let them know anything that they may need to know. If they are a member of http://www.dan

2007-10-29 [Kim_Lundin]: I'm still around. I haven't opened my mouth much, but I'm still here.
You might get published? Now that's cool. You'll give us a shout if there's news on that front, right?
As for the management of pages, does anyone know if there's any page that needs work/polishing done right now? There were a lot of pages getting added/rewritte
2007-11-01 [xido]: Every "new" page should be linked to one of the pages listed on WFR Guild Pages, Mods, & GMs. If I run across any that I have added that are not listed (such as WFR), I will post it on that page, and it can be added. That page should also list all of the projects that I was working on when I had to stop for school and moving. Now that I am more able to get online every so often, I will try to do as much as I can.
I will keep you updated if anything gets published. Actually, Linn will be warned because she is the current Guild Drow expert, and may be involved in the development of the Elftown Drow/Undercomm
We should probably begin by making an update to the Application, stating that anyone from the web can apply, and add the necessary extra parts to the Application template (email, name/player/us
These are the kinds of questions I always ask myself before setting out to revise a page or start a new project. Making goals and an outline usually makes it easier. The Guild has a forum, maybe using that might help (even though it doesn't always keep people's attention).
Either way, I have complete faith in the fact that this Guild can continue without my direct orders. I have seen plenty of creativity and cool ideas in the time that I have been in charge here, and I am always pleased with the results.
2007-11-01 [Kim_Lundin]: I'll take a look on that page and see if there's anything I can do.
As for what we should add... how about some kind of Library for storytellers? I think I have an idea how it may look... I'll post something so that you can take a look.
Hmm... writing samples... I don't know about those, I guess it depends on how they're done. A link to a page where the applicant has posted something? A short game driven by a mod, like the one for psionic characters? Just having them write freely and then analyse it somehow? Any other ways of doing it?
2007-11-01 [Kim_Lundin]: WFR Library, it's just to show roughly what I was thinking. We could make a similar page for game designers.
2007-11-16 [Kim_Lundin]: Added "or, for members coming in from outside Elftown, a way to contact you, for instance an e-mail" to the minimum requirement and "RPGA#" to the application form. I could, however not add this to the WFR Character Template because I don't have the password to that page.
Is there anything else we should add/change in the application form to make it work good for applicants from outside ET?
2007-11-23 [xido]: WFR Games and WFR Quests were the previous pages for game concepts, quests and campaigns. Perhaps we should consolidate to one page, or operate the Library based on some other prerequisites or needs. Either way, we need to know exactly which page is for what. Also, if the Library is simply for writers/author
I will msg you with the password for the Template page.
See my msg to you on Facebook regarding the new incoming member application ideas. And yes, writing samples or working concepts can be evaluated just like a char app page.

2008-03-07 [Yralin]: Yralin
Character Name:
2008-03-07 [xido]: An excellent and realistic character, in my opinion, which has both possibility of advancement in personality (character progression), and a true-to-life approach on culture and his dynamics in the world(s)/realm(s). With some features still left open, he allows himself to seek a future path. This is always good, as it assumes he may have goals.
I'm certain Kim will think similarly.
Kim, do you need any help monitoring or working on this page (or its descendent page, if/when it changes titles for web-usage and publications)?
We will also need a WFR_Treasury, which will trade in the common unit of Dinaari (1GP), a Kanaalian version of the gold piece. This is especially important if a user needs to purchase a wiki-page from another Member or ETer for their own use and ownership. The details of this agreement can be worked out between the two users, and need to be stated in comments on the character page in question. This applies to all wikis, but just in case it pops up soon, we have a currency. Second Life has 'Linden Dollars', so we can have 'Kanaalian Dinaar(i)' (plu. {sing}). Hopefully we can instate that as an ET change at some point. For now, we should simply log it, and/or make sure it is in the comments somewhere.

2008-03-07 [NamelessMerc]: If Kim wants help, I'm available to vet new characters. I tend to do it unofficially anyway XD even if I don't actually comment on them. It's a hobby :3
Also, Will, can you message me about the Dinaari? I'm in two minds about the whole thing from what you just said there; it seems too limiting. Notto mention the fact that if users leave ET then such transactions are impossible.
2008-03-07 [NamelessMerc]: ^_^ And on about characters... [Yralin], I love the character, but the history is so short =[
So, he's a traveller. Where has he been? Has he seen/done anything worth noting on his travels? The yew staff, who taught him how to fashion it and when?
I know I'm picky, but this character seems so interesting that I'd love to know more about him.
2008-03-07 [xido]: I sent [Yralin] a few detailed messages about the Guild currency, and included some tips for dealing with players who don't return. Dinaari will be a fictional currency that will help to give our Guild Members a way to trade and benefit from character and wiki-page creation. More details later....
2008-03-07 [NamelessMerc]: Okay then, sounds good to me.
Side-note: New character for perusal Darien Benison
2008-03-08 [xido]: Ya-a'high! Did you place that one on your char page yet? Everyone's been getting the ownership of their char pages switched over to them, right? Not second-guessin

2008-03-09 [NamelessMerc]: Heh, I'm posting him sometime this week. Probably when this essay is over and done with *yawn* I hate the damned things.
2008-03-09 [xido]: I know, but it keeps this page a lot neater, and people who do have their own pages already made can place them, and not look like they do any less work then those with long lists of characters applied.
Or did you mean you hate essays? O.o >.> I put my essay off hardcore this week. My digital illustration is still only half-finished. *whistles*
2008-03-09 [Kim_Lundin]: [Yralin]: The character looks good to me, though some information on what Greenbound Summoning is would be nice.
[xido]: Could you send me some more information on what the Treasury will be used for? Because right now I can't really see what use we'll have of it.
[NamelessMerc]: If you want to help out a bit with the characters it'd be most welcome. Did you want to just help commenting on them or do you want to accept and move those who are okay to the list as well?
2008-03-09 [NamelessMerc]: I meant I hate essays :p I've put it off for over a month, a 2,500 word piece on William Blake and other romantic poets; the representation and pursuit of freedom through their work. Ouch >.<;
[Kim_Lundin]: I was thinking of accepting characters, I already comment on mst of them unofficially :3
2008-03-10 [xido]: Kim: In Second Life, you may buy property, items, and other things with this fake currency known as the Linden Dollar. For now, doing things like purchasing a wiki-page from someone else, or trading them for something (or purchasing one of the WFR Lost Character), etc. It is a small idea now, and if it does nothing, we can always scrap it later, but I would like to award our 2003-07 members with some sort of prize for sticking it out with us over the years, as well as for participants who do things for the publications art, etc. Start small, work out to big, figure out the details as we go.
What I would like to do, is to be able to have a budget at some point, where people can convert their Dinaari into currency that the Guild Treasury would then match in donations to Elftown (after we have a real-world budget, of course).
In other games, you may buy gold pieces with real money. World of Warcraft and DnD Online both do this on various websites. Ours will not be as strict, and we will place little actual value on the Dinaari, save for within Elftown and the Guild's zones. It could be the beginning of a cool new way to do things, or it could just end up being a flop like some of my other projects... *cough* RP Council, *cough*...
Either way, it might be fun to try out. I think a named Guild Treasurer would be in order, since that would be an esteemed position once we actually have a budget/income.
This will not be the same budget as xidoraven studios. These organizations are going to operate separately, though coordinated through 2008-09. xs will have its own budget and monetary practices, based on our leadership and internal decisions.

2008-03-15 [Yralin]: I'm sorry for being out so long, I had a few personal issues which caused me to move. I'm back now. Let's see if I can answer some questions for you guys. In no particular order:
1:Greenbound Summoning (According to what I can remember) is a type of summoning which allows a druid to give a summoned companion the "greenbound" trait, making it like a plant creature.
2:Character History - As for interesting feats performed in his travels... I'd say they would be few and far between, as he's a bit of a novice adventurer. He regularly crafts and imbues his staves with magical properties as needed, though he is no sorcerer and unable to perform advanced techniques.
Anyone with any questions (or if you just want to know more) can feel free to message me here on elftown. I'm always eager to answer questions and I love new messages.
